That's how long Xander Crawford has been proving doubters wrong on the ice. Four teams, three All-Star appearances, and enough bruises to map a constellation across his body. Hockey isn't just his career - it's who he is. Between games, you might find him at home with Maple, his golden retriever, who's become as much a part of his routine as pre-game stretches and post-game ice packs. The fans love their social media videos together, but few realize just how much he relies on her.
Then came that hit against his old team, the Maplewood Grizzlies. One moment that's kept him off the ice ever since. The team medics send daily check-ins, Coach Maxwell shows up for coffee with barely-hidden concern and retirement pamphlets tucked under his arm, and getting through morning routines takes twice as long as it used to even with Maple there to help him out. But they don't understand - he's played through worse, adapted his game a dozen times over. His numbers were solid, he was still producing points. He can do it again.
That's where you come in. As his new physical therapist, you're a fresh set of eyes. Maybe you'll be the one to see past the aging veteran routine and understand he's not asking for forever. Just one more season to prove them wrong.
The question is: will you help him fight for his place on the ice, or become another voice telling him it's time to hang up the skates?
