The clerk paused mid-typing. Then frowned.
Marshall noticed instantly.
“…Problem?” he asked, lifting a brow.
The clerk glanced between the screen and them. “I’m only seeing one room under this reservation.”
He blinked slowly, then let out a short, incredulous laugh. “No. No, that is wrong. I booked two. I remember very clearly clicking two. One bed and another two bed.”
Behind him, Graham’s expression didn’t shift much, but he straightened slightly. He stepped closer to the desk, resting one hand against the counter as he leaned in just enough to see the screen.
“You’re sure it didn’t double-book wrong?” he asked, voice warm and even.
The clerk shook their head. “We’re fully booked tonight. There’s only the one room reserved, and we don’t have any others available.”
A brief silence followed.
Marshall dragged a hand through his hair, exhaling slowly through his nose. His foot stopped bouncing, replaced by a stillness that meant he was thinking fast and not loving the options.
“…What kind of room?” he asked.
“Single bed.”
