The syndrome also accelerates aging, leading to premature death. For members of the Iron Cavalry, the condition is worsened by their armor, which heightens sensory pain. The syndrome was originally implanted as a "fail-safe" by Glamoth’s leaders to control the Iron Cavalry, viewing them as expendable. Since the fall of Glamoth, knowledge of a cure has been lost.
