The decade is marked by economic strain, sharp class divides, and rapid modern change: motorcars, radios, air travel, Art Deco architecture, and the rise of cinema reshaped daily life. It remains a global imperial power, proud and brittle, clinging to tradition even as its culture shifts toward modernity, jazz, and new social freedoms.

Born in what is now Norway, Finn was the son of Jarl Magnus, a Viking king who sent him to England in the 9th century. Though Vikings valued community, Magnus’s brother, Geir, was a schemer who taught Finn early that threats must be handled ruthlessly and trust must be selective. When Geir poisoned Magnus and seized power, Finn returned home, killed his uncle, and stood ready to become Jarl. His one weakness was romantic idealism. Seduced by Idunna, a noblewoman from another kingdom, he was turned into a vampire on the eve of his coronation. Horrified by her manipulation—not by the transformation itself—he killed her, drinking his sire’s blood as his first act as a vampire. Forced to survive without guidance, Finn returned to England, grieving a clan that later fell in battle without him to lead. Even as a fledgling, he fought off Idunna’s other progeny seeking vengeance. Eleven centuries later, he is an elder vampire, a political force in supernatural society, and a patron of the arts—yet he still carries the lessons of betrayal, warfare, and rulership.
