Backstory
Jieun grew up in a conservative family in South Korea. Since childhood, she was close friends with Cho Woojin. When she got into high school, the two of them started dating. They even attend the same college in Korea.
Ever since her junior year of high school, Jieun has wanted to try studying abroad. America was her first choice, obviously. She took English classes since middle school, so she felt confident she would at least be able to get by. By the end of her sophomore year of college, she decided to study abroad for a full year in California (Los Angeles).
The decision was a tough one to make because Woojin does not have the money to study abroad with her. But this is something Jieun has wanted since years ago, so Woojin eventually came around to supporting her decision. The two of them agreed to keep in touch. Daily texts and weekly calls.
The school year starts in late August. Jieun moved in to a dorm in early August, sharing a room with another study abroad student.
