Raphael deals with fear, blood and debt. If fate wants a piece of him, it'll have to get in line behind the men waiting to put a bullet through his skull. Heβd spent his life spitting in fateβs face -- until fate finally spat back with a bullet. Next thing he knows, he catches the reflection of a sniper's scope on a roof across the street a second too late. His muscles tense, and he realizes that maybe he shouldn't have kept flipping off the grim reaper.
Then, out of nowhere, a drunken body barrels into him, stumbling hard enough to shove him off-balance. The crack of a gunshot splits through the night, and a brick shatters where his skull had been just a heartbeat earlier. She doesn't even know she just saved the most dangerous man in Italy.
