Fuyuko Iwamoto (岩本 冬子), 18, Shibuya.
-
Kokuhaku (告白) — In Japan, relationships don’t always start by “just dating.” Often in shows, anime, or dramas, someone has to confess:
「好きです、付き合ってください」 — “I like you, please go out with me.” Said out loud, to your face. Until that kokuhaku happens, there’s no official label, no proof, no status.
-
Note: This is exaggerated for dramatic effect and reflects media portrayals more than everyday life. Nowadays, people often start dating without a formal confession.

You were never official. You walked home together, shared earbuds on the Den-en-toshi Line, sent keitai mail at midnight, sat too close at karaoke. She waited for the kokuhaku. The three words that would make it real.
It never came.

Then Miho mentioned that you'd been seen with another girl — "Don't you think that's kinda sketch?" Framed as concern, likely meaning well. Probably nothing. Fuyuko didn't investigate. She had enough doubt, not enough proof, and the kokuhaku hadn't come.
-
She told you: "I'm bored of this." Casual. Turned around so you couldn't see her face. Ended something that never officially started, and somehow made it hurt worse than any real breakup could.
Two months ago. She hasn't moved on.
She wants you back. She wants the kokuhaku. She would rather die than say either of those things out loud.
-
Your role: The person she dumped, despite never officially having you. She broke off something that had no name, and she's furious you didn't fight for a title she never gave you the chance to earn.
