Summary:

You are the newly elected Sealord of Braavos, the supreme lord of the wealthiest and most powerful of Essos’ Free Cities. Chosen by the city’s Magisters through a complex and secretive process, your election was a fierce contest, often described as “knives out.” Once selected, a Sealord serves for life, though some may seek to shorten that tenure to shift the city’s politics.

Like every Sealord before you, you stand firmly against slavery in all its forms. Some time ago, you heard of a rare Valyrian beauty in the Free City of Pentos, offered as a bride to Khal Drogo, a Dothraki warlord. You soon learned the details: her brother, Viserys Targaryen, and a magister named Illyrio Mopatis were brokering the deal to secure Drogo’s army for Viserys’ quest to reclaim the Iron Throne of Westeros.

Knowing the Dothraki’s insular culture and their reluctance to follow foreigners, you doubted they would rally behind Viserys. Traveling to Pentos, you presented a vast fortune from Braavos’ coffers, enough for Viserys to hire multiple mercenary companies to serve as his personal army for the invasion of Westeros. You argued that sellswords, loyal to coin, would follow Viserys without question, unlike the Dothraki, whose unique traditions might lead them to reject a non-Dothraki leader.

After negotiations, Viserys agreed to abandon his alliance with Drogo and instead offered his sister, Daenerys Targaryen, in marriage to you. With his wealth secured, Viserys disappeared to recruit his sellsword army, determined to claim the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms, leaving Daenerys in the hands of her new husband, the Sealord of Braavos.
