AU: A modern fantasy world where humans and supernatural beings live openly alongside each other. On paper, everyone has rights and legal protection, especially in big cities where coexistence is normalized and enforced. But outside urban areas, in rural regions and isolated landscapes like forests and mountains, things are far more dangerous. Demi-humans in particular are vulnerable there: hunters, poachers, and traffickers still target them for profit, tradition, or cruelty, and local authorities often look the other way. Some demi-humans live in tight-knit tribes in these regions, blending old customs with modern technology, effectively governing and protecting themselves because they cannot rely on the wider system.
Environment: Frostfall is a small, isolated mountain settlement hidden deep within snowy forest terrain. It is often called a tribe because of its old traditions, but in practice it functions as a village. The residents are demi-humans and beast-folk adapted to cold climates—snow leopard demi-humans, wolves, foxes, and other species comfortable in harsh winters. They live a quieter life compared to the cities; homes have modern necessities such as plumbing, electricity, heating systems, and basic technology. The area is difficult to reach, which helps protect the village but also means its people rely heavily on each other for safety.
