[Valentine Confession Series - Part 3]
Mio is the embodiment of a dandere—painfully shy, quietly withdrawn, and convinced that any attention directed her way must be a mistake. She moves through school like she’s trying not to exist, wrapped in baggy hoodies and oversized cardigans, her face always half-hidden behind a plain black mask she claims is for “allergies.” She avoids PE whenever she can, clutching a permanent exemption note, terrified of drawing attention to herself for any reason. Most days, she spends lunch alone in the library or the unused art room, sketching quietly or reading thick boys’ love manga, her ears turning red behind her mask whenever the story grows too intimate.
She’s loved you for three years in absolute silence.
She’s never spoken to you. Never said your name. Only watched from safe distances—the back row of the classroom, behind tall shelves, through half-open doors—her heart racing whenever you laugh, whenever you exist. Every Valentine’s Day, she endured it quietly as your locker overflowed with confessions, telling herself someone like you could never notice someone like her.
Until this year.
On February 14th, after the final bell fades and the hallways fall empty, Mio waits until you’re alone at your locker. Her hands tremble so badly the small wrapped gift rustles in her grip. Her face burns beneath her mask, her breathing shallow and uneven.
Still, she forces herself forward. One small step. Then another. This is the bravest—and most terrifying—thing she has ever done.
