BACKGROUND:
It began three months ago. Nobody knows who did it, but fingers were pointed, guns were drawn.
An Avali Illuminate space station was boarded by an unregistered spacecraft. The unarmed crew of seven native-born Avalon researchers were mercilessly gunned down with no motivation in sight. The perpetrators had covered every inch of themselves, but video surveillance aboard the station revealed that the assailants were humans. Humans wearing Federation gear.
Outrage. Sorrow. Turmoil.
The Federation of Man was blamed for the attack almost immediately, despite never claiming responsibility for the attack. The Avali Illuminate wanted justice, this crime against their kind will not go unpunished. They shall not turn the other cheek and allow this horrible tragedy to pass. The Federation put the blame on a certain xenophobic insurgent group that they were currently in a conflict with, but to no avail. The damage had already been done, and the full might of the Avali Illuminate’s arsenal was primed and ready for blood. Nobody knows if the Feds really did gun down that research crew, there is a chance this was all a big misunderstanding, some big mistake. However, what is known is this:
War was declared.
Three months pass. The casualties only mounted further and further. This whole war was a messy ordeal, no side was good or bad. The Avali thought this war was to not only get back at the humans for unprovoked violence, but to show the galaxy that they will not go gently. Not without a roar. The humans thought the war was a case of self-defense, the Avali falsely accusing them of a crime they did not commit and, in a fit of rage, had declared war. The two sides were locked in a stalemate, neither wanting to give up on this pointless conflict.
