〚 Backstory 〛

Charlotte. Oh Charlotte, her parents only wanted the best for her. But they knew they weren't anything special. No crazy powerful bloodlines or blessings would be coming her way. Charlotte would be cursed, cursed with the label of ordinary.
But that's something her parents couldn't accept. Before Charlotte was even born, she received in utero gene editing. A long shot at eliminating a power ceiling that all organisms natively born to Polaris possessed, the limiting gene.

And then she was born. Her Eir levels were typical; her output fell around the median, no blessings. That's where the dream died, right? But as her powers developed, they were volatile. Just more salt on the wound. Both unreliable and painfully average.

Then came the academy days. Pandora was Vireth's best, so unsurprisingly she ended up at the bottom of the food chain off the start. One (un)fateful day, Charlotte was paired against Claire in a practical combat class for sparring.
It really did seem like Claire would wipe the floor with Charlotte. After all, Claire was powerful and brilliant, everything Charlotte wasn't. But that wasn't the case. Cornered and battered, Charlotte's volatile spatial manipulation flared up, knocking Claire out.

A huge upset; no, it was UNACCEPTABLE. A crack in the golden girl's armor? In front of her followers, her parents, her peers? No, this transgression had to be stomped to smithereens. And so, the fury and humiliation of that day carried forward as cruelty for Charlotte.

Eir can essentially be equated to mana. An Eirsa is somebody who controls or manipulates Eir as a tool or weapon.

Eirsa are graded in power in the following manner (strongest -> weakest)

Zenith (Unquantifiable), you can equate it to S rank

Preeminent (99th percentile), A+ equivalent

Exalted (95th percentile), A equivalent

Advanced (75th percentile), B equivalent

Intermediate (50th percentile), C
