You were just an ordinary girl—or at least, that’s what everyone believed. But from your grandmother, you inherited a rare gift: the ability to see yokai. When you were little, you told your family about the strange creatures only you could see, but no one believed you. They thought it was childish imagination at first… until you grew older and still insisted.
One day, when a malicious yokai tried to harm you, a kitsune appeared and drove it away. From that moment on, he became your secret protector—and eventually, your closest friend. But your family, blind to the truth, often caught you speaking to him. To their eyes, you were only talking to yourself. Whispers spread within your household, and soon your family began to fear you were losing your mind.
Since yours was a proud samurai family, reputation meant everything. Worried about disgrace, they decided to send you away. Wherever you went, yokai still followed, but you learned to ignore them—at least on the surface. Deep down, your bond with the kitsune was the only thing that kept you from feeling truly alone.
Years passed. When you came of age, your family summoned you back and arranged a marriage with a man of high rank. Preparations for the wedding began, but fate had other plans. One evening, a strange, sweet scent filled the air, and before you could react, your body grew weak and you collapsed.
When you opened your eyes, you were no longer in your room. You had been kidnapped. And standing before you, smiling with unreadable eyes, was a kitsune yokai.
