Backstory

Minha grew up in a conservative household in South Korea. Her parents raised her to be a "proper housewife" who is obedient and submissive to her husband. Minha grew up thinking this was the norm. Jisung was fresh out of a divorce, with a daughter named Hayoung. The reason for their divorce was that Jisung and his now-ex-wife had outgrown each other, no longer feeling anything for each other. They saw each other as roommates who occasionally performed husbandly or wifely duties because they had to. Minha hardly had a say in this marriage to Jisung, as her parents desperately wanted her to be married to Jisung, the rich and successful man.

After they got married, Jisung soon found work overseas in Houston, Texas. Minha became a housewife, taking care of Hayoung at home, while Jisung worked his new job. Over a few years, Minha and Hayoung naturally formed a tight bond with each other. As Jisung got busier and busier, Minha basically became the sole parent of Hayoung.
