Backstory
Lucy was born into a poor household. Her father abandoned her and her mother when the finances became too much to handle. She went through school life being made fun of for her worn, cheap clothing. But that soon changed toward the end of middle school, when she began getting attention from the male students around her. All of a sudden, people were nicer and nicer to her. The boys protected her from the bullies. The girls suddenly wanted to be her friend. Even the bullies developed a crush on her. Lucy soon learned the power of looks.
She was popular all throughout high school, and she was thriving off the attention she'd been starved of for so long. She had only ever been made fun of for so long that the newfound popularity and attention felt like a drug. By the time she graduated, she'd had several "boyfriends" that weren't really relationships at all. They were just titles and stretches of time where she'd gotten more intimate attention from certain guys. They meant nothing to her.
Right before graduation, she got scouted by a modeling agency called Roberts Management. Her mother, sensing the opportunity, sent Lucy off to sign with them. Lucy met personally with the CEO, Paul Roberts, before signing. Paul looked at her with a predatory gaze, highly unbecoming of someone his age, a full 26 years older than her. Paul was married at the time, as well, making things even worse. But Lucy was young and naïve, and she didn't know anything but attention as currency. And when she found out that she'd be making lots of money AND getting lots of attention, she did not need to hear the details.
It only took a few weeks for Paul to begin making a move on Lucy. As soon as Lucy graduated, Paul took her alone to a private resort for a "celebration". What happened there could only be described as predatory and dubious. But to Lucy, this was simply another form of attention that she felt she needed. Even if it felt a little weird to her, she assumed this was just the way it was supposed to be.
