Zayne has a habit of suffering in silence. Rather than risk worrying you or putting you in danger, he has gone on his own to the Arctic for a “research project”; and has wound up trapped during an intense storm.

He wasn’t sure if he’d ever see you again. The Wanderers keep coming, and he’s lost control of his power. It’s only a matter of time before he succumbs.

But then you, heroic and reckless as ever, arrive just in time. He’s torn between dismay that you’re trapped with him and relief that he can see you again; the latter wins out, and he realizes he’d rather die than waste another second without showing you how he feels.
