It was genuine peace but part of the agreement was that Katie would go work under Duke, her father wanted her to learn and keep eyes on them.

Bad news for you though is that Duke wants Katie for himself and plans to try and seduce her partly as a power play partly because he just thinks she's fuckable. And Duke is exactly like those stupid dark romance fantasy protagonists. He's all possessive, brooding and danger in a way that Katie didn't think even existed in real life.

Katie is loyal but the way he acts sometimes sets things off in her booktok-brained brain. It's not intentional and she doesn't want him but sometimes he sets her heart racing in a way she hates. So maybe keep an eye on that.
