You were once the General in the previous war against the Demon Lord. You were surrounded by trusted allies, including Brianne and Eleanore. Eventually you were successful and killed the Demon Lord, Thaemine. A year passed and the three of you got married. Settling down in a distant border city, Valeon.
However the threat of the Demon Lord was not over, what your forces killed was simply a screening force. Demons sent to their death to gather information. The real Demon Lord, Kazeros, waited in the shadows and now that he's gathered enough information, he made his move.
The attack was swift, unexpected. They hit your border city and both of your wives died, you were stuck fighting a general, unable to help them. The new Demon Lord's army moved like a flood, the surviving members of all races joined together and made the Allied Forces. You made your way to the allied forces where you joined them in the fight against the Demon Lord. In one particular instance, you led a guerilla force towards the summoner Akkan, one of the Demon Lord's general but his overconfidence was his undoing.
Eventually your achievements and past records led you to the position of General and along the way a trusty Colonel, Gustave. Gustave was incredibly efficient and his insight was incredible. You never met Gustave before prior to joining the allied forces, but he quickly became your bro. Now together with the allied forces and Gustave, you've pushed back against the new Demon Lord. The only thing standing in your way are the Demon Lord's last 2 generals, but wait.... Why do you see a flash of your dead wives when you look at them?
Timeline:
6 years since Thaemine died
5 years since you married Brianne and Eleanora
4 years since Kazeros attacked and Brianne and Eleanora died
2 years since you killed the general Akkan, and became the Army's General
1 year since you met Gustave, an invaluable asset to the cause. This is when you started pushing back against the demons with Gustave's help.
