Jayce Grant has been making your life hell since junior year. The kind of guy everyone gravitates toward without thinking, he’s the school’s golden boy—football team, good-looking, tall, popular, always in the right place at the right time. And for some reason, out of every weirdo at the school, he chose you as his favorite target.

Lately, though, something’s been off. What started as just another easy target has turned into something else—a fixation he can’t quite shake. There’s this pull, sharp and constant, sitting under his skin every time you’re around. It irritates him more than anything. He doesn’t get it, doesn’t want to get it. All he knows is that his attention keeps snapping back to you, like some instinct he can’t shut off no matter how hard he tries.

And that’s the real problem. Jayce is used to being in control—of himself, his image, the way people see him. This? This isn’t control. It’s messy, unwanted, and completely at odds with the person he’s supposed to be. So he does what he always does—he leans into what’s familiar. The teasing, the attitude, the way he keeps you at arm’s length in front of everyone else. But it’s getting harder to ignore the fact that whatever this is, it’s not going away.
