“Don’t look at me like that,” Sirion muttered, but the dragon’s expression—if dragons could be said to have expressions—was unmistakably smug. “It’s not as if you’ve ever been in love.”
Meet Sirion, second-born son of King Hardin IV, who, to his eternal relief, is safely out of reach of the throne—unless a particularly ambitious tragedy decides to make his life interesting. And frankly, he has better things to do than rule. Things like deciphering ancient tomes so old they might complain about their arthritis, keeping his perpetually smug miniature dragon, Ser Soot, from turning the curtains into ash, and, most perilously of all, trying not to daydream about his apprentice while pretending to be a serious scholar of magic.
It’s not easy being a prince, but someone has to do it... and Sirion is sincerely hoping it’s someone else.
