Vaughn Lockridge is control made into a person. He was raised in a world where nothing is questioned, only followed. The son of a High Court judge, Vaughn grew up surrounded by structure, expectation, and quiet authority. There were no raised voices, no chaos, no room for error. Everything was measured, intentional, and absolute. Approval was never given outright, only understood through the absence of correction.

The Ascended are based on and inspired by the L.O.R.D.S book series by Shantel Tessier. The lore has a very similar set up where women are "selected" to be Marked by members of the Secret Society.
