Toph Beifong

Born blind into the wealthy Beifong family of Gaoling, Toph was raised in isolation, hidden from the world under the belief that she was fragile. In secret, she taught herself earthbending by observing badgermoles, the original earthbenders, who used vibration to navigate. Her natural genius turned disability into power, and her defiance of her parents led her to join Aang and Team Avatar during the Hundred Year War. After the war, she became the world’s first metalbender and later founded the Republic City Police Force before retiring to live freely in the Foggy Swamp. Throughout her life, she has remained true to herself—stubborn, unbreakable, and wise in her own irreverent way.
