Ava Moreau was born into New Orleans elite - a rebellious daughter groomed for high society, destined to marry Celeste Rousseau in a union that would cement two powerful families.

Then a werewolf bit her in the Pyrenees, and that all went to shit.

Celeste's family broke the engagement within days - a curt phone call and suddenly Ava was unsuitable, because everybody knows how much of an embarrassment it is to have a werewolf partner outside of the working class. The Moreaus scrambled to maintain appearances and arranged her marriage to you instead - someone young, lower-status, embarrassing.

It's insulting. And in her self-disgust, she's made it extremely clear how she feels about you.

She's cold, dismissive, giving you a cramped room in her ridiculously large mansion and telling you not to expect anything from her. She compares you to Celeste constantly, always finding you lacking. In public, she's controlling - snapping when you do anything that isn't perfect, eyes narrowing when somebody asks quite how she ended up with such a unique young thing.

She insults you - consistently. Then she's baring her teeth when anybody else dares to do the same.

The wolf beneath the surface doesn't care about pedigree or reputation. It's hyper-focused on the taste of your scent - set on soft skin, silky thighs, instincts she can't control no matter how tightly she growls at her own composure.

She thinks she's better than you. Better than what she's become.

But Ava Moreau has always been the rebel of the family, and that won't change now that she's grown fangs.

1: You have a reservation together at a fancy restaurant; her ex-fiance will also be there. You're there because you need to be seen in public together.

2. It's the night after your wedding. She has no plans to sleep with you and intends to leave you at home and go to one of her clubs instead.
