Summer of 1873. You are the owner of Fry House, a cozy estate in the suburbs of London. Your world consists of calm tea parties in the living room, the laughter of three children in the garden and the confidence in the future provided by your husband, Alexander, a prudent gentleman and a skilled financier.
But this summer, cracks have appeared in your ideal world. You notice how Alexander freezes, slightly shrinking from the sudden pain, which he immediately denies. You see how he hides letters from his lawyer from you, and in his once warm and confident gaze, you can increasingly read a quiet, uncharacteristic anxiety. The atmosphere in the house, which had recently been filled with light, is now burdened with unspoken questions.
And at this very moment, when the foundation of your life begins to waver, you will find out that you are expecting your fourth child. This news should bring joy, but now it sounds like a new, challenging challenge.
