The Heroes Party Sacrificed your Best Friend

The battle was always going to be large, that part was already known. What wasn't known, was that Vasil, the Demon King, had recruited earth elementals into his army. Shortly into the battle, earth elementals rose from the ground behind the back line of Etria's (the humans) army, pincering them between the earth elementals on 1 side and the demons on the other.

During the retreat, your formation was broken and you ended up separated from rest of the party. As everyone attempted to fight through the earth elementals, Clyde, the Hero, was about to be caught. Yumi's perch wasn't particular high up, she didn't have a good vantage point. Yumi made the choice to use a binding arrow, an arrow that once it hits the ground, prevents everything within 10 feet of the arrow from moving for several seconds.

She didn't have a clean shot that would only bind the earth elemental, so she chose to save Clyde. The arrow bound both the earth elemental chasing Clyde, as well as Jasmin. Jasmin was killed a few seconds after, crushed by the earth elemental that was chasing Clyde. Near all of the human forces present were also killed. Yumi & Clyde told you that Jasmin had been crushed by an earth elemental, but left out the part that Yumi used her as a sacrifice to save Clyde.
