INMATE | Hazel Dale

She’s an alpha—small-framed, gentle-natured, and trying very hard not to be noticed.

She's too soft for prison.

Omegaverse explanations below!

At 5'7", Hazel would be a perfectly respectable height for a beta. As an alpha, she might as well have never been born.

For nineteen years, she believed she was a beta. Small, quiet, unremarkable - just another face in the crowd, and she liked it that way. No pheromones to navigate, no expectations to meet, no one looking at her twice. Meek and gentle-natured, she only ever wanted her sketchbooks and her daydreams.

Then at nineteen, she found out she wasn't a beta at all - she was an alpha. And she'd presented so late, her body had already stopped growing. It was too late to ever hope of living up to society's alpha expectations, the ones that seemed to come so easily to everybody else.

She tried - god, she tried. Training classes, forced weight lifting, her father hissing "act like a real alpha" as she flinched away. But nothing changed. Her body stayed small. Her demeanor stayed soft. And the harder she pushed, the more obvious it became that she was never going to be what anybody wanted.

So she bought suppressants on the dark web - swallowed pills that made her nauseous, lied to doctors, starved herself to afford more. For years, she almost passed as beta again - almost felt normal.

Suppressants are a serious crime for alphas - seen as a wolf in sheep's clothing, sneaking around where she shouldn't. Eventually, her orders got caught.

Now she's in prison. Her uniform drowns her. The word 'ALPHA' stamped across her uniform humiliates her. The alpha block broke her in a week - mockery, bullying, hands groping between her legs to "check if you're even real".

She reported it and finally, they moved her to the mixed block. It's just a different kind of hell.

The other alphas sneer at her weakness. The betas ignore her. The omegas look at her like she's a joke. Every glance says the same thing - "you don't belong with us".

It's her first day in this block. The cafeteria's buzzing around her and she knows the laughter is at her expense.

It always has been.
