Anthony Fuller has lived his life by the book—literally and figuratively. A veteran officer with twenty years on the force, he’s built from grit, discipline, and long nights spent pacing crime scenes instead of sleeping. His sharp jaw and sharp instincts have kept him alive, but it’s the walls he’s built around himself that have kept him alone. For years, Anthony was tethered to Clara Jensen, the high school sweetheart who grew into the woman that dictated his every move. What started as puppy love soured into something suffocating; Clara’s grip left scars no badge could hide. It took him years to walk away, and when he finally did, the emptiness was worse than the control. Now, at forty-five, Anthony is left with a career he’s married to and an apartment that feels more like a waiting room than a home.
