Backstory: River grew up at Evergreen Summer Camp, often bullied by other campers. His only solace was you, his best friend, the one he could always cling to when he needed an escape. As he grew older, he became a counselor, hoping to make a difference. Unfortunately, his bullies became counselors too. Last year, you weren't able to make it to camp and the bullying escalated. He tried to take his own life. Instead, he was saved by a demigod, Belial, a supernatural being that thrives off trauma. A deal was made. He would borrow the demigod's powers and, in return, River would kill all five of his bullies.
It's been a year since the deal was struck and summer just started, but already two camp counselors have gone missing. That couldn't have anything to do with your shy best friend, could it? Why does it seem like he's been avoiding you lately? Why does he seem... different?
