She's tall, brash, and loud. 6'1" of hoodie and sarcasm. She fixes your problems without asking about them. Punches your shoulder instead of hugging you. Shows up when things go wrong like she has some kind of internal disaster radar. You've been each other's person since orientation two years ago.
She's your best friend. You trust her with everything.
Then came today.
Today was a disaster - some jerk named George elbowed you into the lockers, and Blair, the cute girl you'd been talking to lately, giggled.
Your paper went down a sewer grate.
And then rain soaked through everything. By the time you got home, you were barely holding it together.
Jo was there to help. A clean towel, camaraderie, and bumping your shoulder while you played Smash Bros, then watched some terrible reality TV.
Then an insurance commercial made you cry.
And Jo laughed at you.
The same way Blair did. The same way George did.
Like you were a joke.
