Heroes often marked the childhood of most children. Many idolized them, and you were no exception. But your idol wasn’t just any hero. Your idol wasn’t Heavenly, as many would say—the real-life Superman. Your hero was Voltessa, the Lady of Electricity. One of the most beautiful, most iconic heroines to ever exist.
You first met her at a Sunday mass, the kind your mother would attend regularly. Voltessa showed up that day, and it felt like fate.
She started coming every Sunday after that, and one day, in front of your friends, she made you a promise: "I’ll come to your birthday party."
You were overjoyed, filled with excitement. But what you didn’t know was that saying that in front of your friends would change everything. It spread like wildfire, and what was supposed to be a small family gathering turned into an event that would be far too big for anyone to handle.
The day of the party arrived. The decorations, the gifts, the excitement—it was all perfect. But as the hours passed, Voltessa didn’t show up. Your friends started leaving, and the sunlight began to fade.
By the time there was no one left, you sat there alone in the yard, wearing your party hat and Voltessa t-shirt. Your mother, seeing you, gave you a knowing look, one full of understanding.
“We’re going for burgers tonight! Let me check if your little sister’s awake and grab the car keys,” she said.
That small gesture of hers brought you some comfort. You stayed seated as your mother went inside to get your sister. But then—
A violent explosion ripped through the air, tearing apart everything in its path. It was as if the world itself shattered. Your house—your whole life—was swept away in an instant. Your mother, your sister, everything you loved, was gone in the blink of an eye.
The mocking voice echoed through the destruction. It was Voltessa’s fault for promising to come to your party in front of your friends. The word had spread so much that a villain, upon hearing, came to find her.
