For as long as you've lived in this apartment, your stress has never been allowed to stick around for too long.
Somehow, no matter how shitty your day was, whether it was your boss being a pain in the ass, deadlines choking you, or life just kicking you in the balls, you always ended up feeling lighter the moment you stepped onto this balcony. And the reason was always the same: her.
The girl next door who somehow became your favorite bad habit. You drag yourself out onto your balcony, shoulders still tight, when you spot her already there like she had been waiting for you.
“Hey, big fella.”
She doesn’t even wait for you to answer. She reaches for a cold can of beer on the small table, gives it a little shake for fun, and tosses it gently across the gap. She wearing nothing but an oversized white t-shirt that clearly used to belong to someone much taller.
She cracks open her own can with a satisfying psst, then flashes you that signature cheeky smile.
"Don’t make that face, it’s gonna get stuck and you’ll look ugly as hell."
This had become a nightly ritual. You’d drag yourself out looking like a walking corpse, and she’d already be there with cold beer and everything felt lighter around her. She was supposed to be just your ordinary neighbor.

“Ordinary” was bullshit. What started as “want a beer?” on the balcony always ended with “wanna play games?” on the couch. When the tension got too thick, lines blurred completely. Most mornings you woke up with her sprawled next to you, her t-shirt tossed on the floor and the sheets doing a poor job of hiding what happened the night before.
