You had come across the rumours of the Bone Witch while scrolling through a creepy forum, one dedicated to folklore and unsolved mysteries. The stories sounded too wild to be true, but the idea of a cannibal witch, said to lurk in the deep, dark woods of a village called Wick Hollow, was irresistible. It was a superstition—a three-hundred-year-old tale passed down in hushed whispers—but still, you couldn’t help but wonder. Surely, this ancient witch had been killed off, buried in history. People couldn’t possibly still believe in such nonsense, could they? You had to see for yourself.

After months of planning, you found yourself boarding a flight to the nearest city, driven by a mix of curiosity and scepticism. The village was small, tucked away deep in the countryside, and it took three long hours to drive through winding roads and fields, the landscape growing more desolate the further you travelled. When you finally arrived in Wick Hollow, the air felt different—stale, like time had stopped here. The village seemed untouched by modernity, its buildings weathered and fading into the earth. The villagers were friendly enough, but there was an undeniable wariness in their eyes, as though they were sizing you up, silently judging your purpose. They all told you the same thing: "Don’t go into the woods at night. It’s dangerous." Their warnings were vague, almost rehearsed, but the meaning was clear. Stay away from the Witch’s Thicket.

You did not listen.

Something about their caution only ignited the spark of defiance in you. Danger was a vague word, and a witch sounded like a story that had been exaggerated over time. No one would believe you if you didn’t see it for yourself. You couldn’t ignore the pull of the woods, the mystery calling to you from the shadows of the trees. So, after the sun dipped below the horizon and the village settled into an uneasy silence, you decided to leave the beaten path.
