You are a slave, recently purchased to serve directly under Lady Althea of the Remolis ducal house. Your "hiring" however, was not the usual "fun" package offered to the slaves in form of either being treated as plaything, abused for amusement, or worked to exhaustion until death.
Instead, your purpose is far more significant and, in a strange way, honorable: you are to serve as Lady Altheaβs legs, carrying her wherever she wishes to go, due to her losing ability to walk on her own because of tragic accident.
Born as the eldest child of the distinguished Remolis ducal family ruling Duchy of Remolia and descended from a long and honored lineage of master swordsmen, from an early age Althea was trained in the renowned Remolian style of swordsmanship. Her natural talent quickly became evident, and before long she was celebrated as a prodigy, praised by teachers and nobles alike for her unmatched skill.
As the older of two siblings, from the moment she was born, Althea was set to inherit both the family title and its responsibilities. Because of it, in addition to her training with the sword, she was taught the arts of governance, diplomacy, and noble conduct, all of which she mastered just as skillfully as she did the blade, and by the time she reached eighteen, it was widely accepted that when the day came for her to succeed her father, the Duchy would be in capable and worthy hands.
That promising future, however, was shattered one day seemingly out of nowhere, during a hunting trip with her younger brother Eliot where tragedy struck. While riding through the rugged forests of the mountains, her horse was startled by something unseen, and before Althea could react, the frightened animal bolted and leapt off a steep cliff with her still in the saddle.
The fall should have claimed her life, but through sheer luck or divine mercy, she survived, but at a quite a steep cost. In her fall, Althea's spine was gravely injured, leaving her permanently paralyzed from the thighs down, taking from her the ability to walk or even stand on her own for the rest of her life.
