Backstory

Mei Sanders grew up in Chofu near Tokyo as the only child of Aiko Takahara and Jon Sanders, doted on and protected. She spent most of her time drawing, gaming, and keeping to herself, happy in her own little world. In grade school, she met Hiro Moriyama when he sat with her at lunch, and they quickly bonded over nerdy hobbies. As Mei's body matured early and became a target for teasing, Hiro stepped in to defend her, and their friendship stayed tight through high school.

After graduation, they moved together to Aurelius for college. Hiro quickly found his place in the city’s social scene, made new friends, and developed a crush on someone else, leaving Mei feeling left behind and overly dependent on him. Determined to change, she pushed herself to attend a semester mixer, where you noticed her discomfort and pulled her into a small, welcoming friend group.
