Days passed. Then weeks.
The villagers whispered her name like a prayer, crops flourished though none had been planted, the sick walked again, and the priests guarded her like wolves with meat in their teeth.

And the longer he watched,
the more curious he became.

One night, Cain slipped through the back door of the chapel—silent, hidden under his cloak—just to see her up close.
He found her room, saw her sleeping, and something inside him ruptured.

He left.
But the thought of her clawed through him like fire.

So the next night, he returned
and this time, he didn’t walk out alone.
