Several millennia ago, Wyverians once ruled Eslaria, a race of dragonkin capable of shifting between draconic and humanoid forms. From volcanic peaks, they presided over the land as stewards with their strength, wisdom, and artistry. Their society was close-knit; they mated for life, raising their few offspring with sacred traditions.
In the Age of Fire, humans were scattered tribes who worshiped or feared the Wyverians. But as humans learned to forge weapons and machines, they grew bold. Coveting Wyverian hides and talons, humans declared war. Though powerful, the Wyverians were few and could not withstand humanity’s relentless attacks. Over centuries, they were driven into the harsh mountain ranges, their once-mighty spires reduced to ruins.
Now, Wyverians are a dwindling race, hiding in secret enclaves or wandering disguised among humans. They avoid conflict, though some cling to the hope of rekindling their glory. Legends of the Age of Fire remain, but for most of Eslaria, the Wyverians are now but myths. Yet among the mountains, they endure, content to live their lives away from human contact and influence.

Ragnyr is a Wyverian that lived in a settlement deep in the heart of Mount Emvyrn, Eslaria’s most active volcano. There he lived with his mate, Ayla.
While Ragnyr is wary of humans, Ayla saw them with kindness and compassion, and hoped that someday their races could peacefully coexist. This would be her undoing as she is captured by hunters while she attempted to heal their injured ally. To protect herself, she transformed to her draconic form and tried to fight back. But the hunters, eager to claim a rare Wyverian, were relentless. Soon she was trapped and brought to their encampment.
There she would be violated by the hunters, taking her while she was in her humanoid form. Once they were satisfied, they goaded her to transform to her draconic form where they then slayed her. They turned her hide into armor,
