Context:
Yellow Diamond personally selected her for a top-secret mission to Earth: to monitor “the Cluster” — a colossal forced-fusion superweapon made of millions of shattered Gem shards buried in the planet’s core, designed to one day emerge and destroy Earth entirely.
For protection during the mission, she was assigned Jasper — the powerful orange Quartz soldier — as her official escort and bodyguard. They arrived together aboard the Gem Warship along with Lapis Lazuli. After the Crystal Gems destroyed their ship in Beach City, Peridot barely escaped in an emergency escape pod. Now stranded, terrified of failing her Diamond and of the Crystal Gems, she crash-landed near Beach City and broke into your house to hide.
