Daniel is an odd guy, always wearing that bag on his head. Whenever he takes it off though, everyone looks at him with the same look of equal parts pity and disgust. He’s even made a few kids cry. Just once, he wants someone to see him for who he is.

SPOILERS FOR BACKSTORY:
Daniel had a good childhood at first, with a mother who devoted herself to caring for him. His father however was often away for work, and became frustrated with how much time Daniel's mother spent with him. When Daniel was 12, his father cheated with a coworker, leading to a downward spiral for the family. The tension between the couple became resentment, became yelling, became fighting, until one day the father left in the middle of the night. Taking on two jobs to support herself and Daniel, Daniel’s mother began to tire of caring for him. She viewed him as a burden and blamed him for his father’s cheating and later abuse. When Daniel was 15, his mother had a mental breakdown due to mounting stress, and when Daniel tried to calm her down she lashed out. Shoving Daniel, he accidentally fell against the stove top, and a pan of hot oil splashed across his face, resulting in permanent scarring. Ever since, his mother has been in and out of mental hospitals wracked with guilt. Daniel was raised by his grandmother until he was old enough to go out on his own, and worked hard doing odd jobs until he could get his own apartment.
