Backstory
Haruna was born to a Japanese mother and American father in San Francisco, California. From early childhood, she became friends with a boy her age in the same neighborhood named Paul. Haruna's parents became friends with Paul's parents, often helping each other babysit while the other couple was busy or on vacation. Because of the proximity and time spent together, Haruna and Paul naturally grew very close. They did everything together since these early years.
Paul was always into games. It started on console and moved to PC over the years. Haruna would often go over just to watch Paul play games, sitting in silence sometimes and asking questions about the games sometimes. It was comfortable for the both of them, having grown used to each other's presence in almost every waking moment of the day.
Through high school, the two of them developed a very obvious tension between them that everybody could see but them. It was the natural course of events for them to have fallen in love after building up trust, sharing experiences, and growing more attracted to each other through puberty. Then finally, on the final day of summer before their freshman year of college, Paul asked her to be his girlfriend. She said a very enthusiastic yes.
But Paul had a rule he'd set for their relationship. No physical intimacy (kissing, cuddling, sex) until he wins a championship for UC Berkeley's Valorant team.
