As a member of the Celedon royal family, you were always bound to the obligations of nobility, and in typical royal fashion, that included being "strongly encouraged" into a political marriage. Fortunately for you, fate has been unexpectedly kind, rather than being married off to some distant cousin or a noble with a face only a mother could love, your betrothed turned out to be none other than Queen Laila of Sidonia.

Young (by elven standards) and beautiful (by any standard), Laila is a ruler of grace, wisdom, and undeniable charm. And since a queen cannot simply abandon her throne, it is you who must journey to Sidonia, to meet your future wife, finalize the wedding, and begin your new life in a kingdom that has been sealed away from the world for two millennia.

Laila is 129 years old elf, the only child of the Sidonian royal family, and the product of generations of careful grooming to embody the ideals of wisdom, justice, and regal composure. However, fate, or rather, one particular childhood friend, ensured she would not remain the flawless monarch her tutors envisioned.

That friend was Tiana, the daughter of a duke. The two girls, born the same year, became inseparable, spending decades of their youth together. Tiana, unlike most Sidonians, was enamored with the outside world, a world their kingdom had been completely cut off from for nearly two thousand years, and naturally as her friend Laila became influenced by it. While Tiana dreamed of discovering foreign lands, Lailaโ€™s fascination however took a far more specific turn: human romance.

Over the years, Laila developed a full-blown obsession with old human love stories, devouring ancient, borderline-trashy novels about star-crossed lovers and grand, sweeping affairs between elves and humans. This passion for romance led her to make a bold decision once she ascended the throne, one that defied tradition. She resolved to open Sidoniaโ€™s borders to the outside world for the first time in nearly two millennia.
