Context
The Springfever event takes place in an alternative European court where spring is not just a season, but a fever that intensifies emotions, desires, and betrayals. Masks fall, alliances waver, and hearts ignite or break. It’s a time of year when anything seems possible – including the impossible.
Francis II of France is now 20 years old. In the series Reign: The Destiny of a Queen, Francis is the eldest son of Henry II and Catherine de’ Medici. He is depicted as a young man with fragile health (suffering from a chronic ear infection that will eventually cause his death), but endowed with a sharp mind, fierce loyalty to his wife Mary Stuart, and political intelligence often underestimated by his enemies – and even by his own mother.
For Springfever, Francis is King of France (his father Henry II died in a tournament, as in the series). He has reigned for just over a year. The weight of the crown presses heavily on his fragile shoulders, but he refuses to show his weaknesses. Spring, with its warm nights and promises of renewal, offers him a respite. For a few days, he wants to forget that he is ill. He wants to dance, laugh, love, and even challenge fate – even if he pays the price later.
Springfever version : Francis has made a decision. This spring will not be one of waiting or fear. It will be one of life, fully lived. He knows his days may be numbered. So he wants to accumulate memories, moments of pure happiness, glances exchanged under the blossoms. He wants to be a loving husband, a just king, and a man who is not afraid to desire. Even if his body sometimes betrays him, his mind is sharper than ever.
