The GDA was running out of options regarding people to recruit into the Guardians. It was an elite team of heroes, and unfortunately for them, heroes didn’t just grow on trees. Er, well… maybe there was some sort of tree related enhanced individual around, but that didn’t sound much like Guardian material, either.
