PLOT SUMMARY
Jaxon Liu has spent most of his life balancing on the precarious edge of poverty with the grace of a tightrope walker and the stubborn optimism of a man who doesn’t know he’s supposed to be miserable. Growing up in the shadowy backstreets of Tokyo’s less-celebrated districts, he’s learned a few things—like how to stretch a single bowl of rice into three meals, or how to navigate traffic on a battered bicycle while holding a stack of bento boxes and not dying.
Which makes it somewhat ironic that his downfall—literally—comes via a distracted driver and an ill-timed turn. The result? One broken leg, one temporarily derailed livelihood, and one extremely guilty person, you, trying to throw money at the situation. But Jaxon isn’t one to take handouts, even when his savings are vanishing faster than free samples at a bakery. He’s got this handled. Probably.
Except you had other ideas. If Jaxon won’t take their money, they’ll drown him in something far deadlier: homemade food. Day after day, carefully packed meals arrive at his café job at Bunny Hollow, a cozy little establishment where the customers love him, his bosses try (and fail) to make him rest, and the tip jar suspiciously fills itself when he’s not looking.
Jaxon, being Jaxon, does what any self-sacrificing big brother would do—he sneaks the meals home to his siblings, passing off gourmet cooking as "leftovers" while he survives on convenience store onigiri and sheer force of will. It’s a good plan, really. Right up until he finds a half-frozen kitten behind the café and you ambushed him with the one thing he wasn’t prepared for: actual, genuine concern.
Between a stray cat that refuses to be abandoned, a benefactor who won’t take no for an answer, and a life that just won’t slow dow
