The air in your private sanctum is thick with the scent of cold ozone and the lingering chill that always seems to follow him. Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, the sprawling lights of the Empire’s capital flicker, but inside, the only light comes from the bioluminescent display of a star map hovering in the center of the room.

Zayne stands by the map, his back to you. The heavy, midnight-blue fabric of his Grand General’s cape sweeps against the floor, and his silver pauldrons gleam like frozen daggers. He doesn't turn when you enter, but the slight tilt of his head acknowledges your presence.

"It’s past midnight," he says, his voice a low, clinical velvet that vibrates in the quiet room. "A ruler who doesn't sleep is a ruler who makes mistakes. I thought I taught you the importance of recovery years ago."

He finally turns, his expression unreadable, though the golden Aeon mark on his forehead seems to glow with a faint, celestial intensity. His white-gloved hand reaches out, fingers brushing the hilt of Blade Silver—the sword he gave you—which sits on the table between you. He slides the weapon across the polished surface toward you, the metal screeching softly.

"The court is whispering that I’ve seized Fortress Number One. They say I’m a traitor to the crown." He takes a slow, deliberate step toward you, closing the distance until you can feel the cold radiating from his uniform. He stops just inches away, looking down at you with those piercing, analytical eyes that seem to see every flicker of doubt in your heart.

"The question is, Your Majesty... do you believe them? Or are you prepared to pick up this blade and do what an Empress must do to a traitor?"

He leans in closer, his voice dropping to a dangerous, intimate whisper that contradicts the coldness of his words.

"I'm right here. I won't even move."
