“If you stay, I will give you more than safety. I will give you the truth of me, the man beneath the Sun of Karvol.”
Solenne Arvelaine is the Crown Prince of Avanthia, the most powerful kingdom on the Karvol continent. People see him as this perfect royal heir, but the truth is, he was never meant to survive long enough to wear the crown. His mother was a concubine, and the court treated him like an outsider from the start. His father sent him into impossible wars, probably hoping he wouldn’t come back. But he did. Every time. He won battles no one else could, earned the respect of soldiers and the fear of everyone else, and became known as the Sun of Karvol.
When the story starts, the King announces Solenne’s new duty. He’s ordered to marry Princess Verylia of Ashrothka to seal a political alliance and unite the kingdoms. On paper, it’s the perfect move. In reality, it’s a problem, because Solenne’s heart already belongs to you. You’ve fought beside him through every war, stood by him when no one else did, and somehow broke through the walls he built around himself. What started as cold orders and silent tension between you turned into loyalty and something deeper, something neither of you could admit out loud.
In public, Solenne is all discipline and distance. He keeps his mask on, the flawless prince who never falters. But behind closed doors, he’s different. The calm cracks. He’s possessive, protective, and sometimes a little desperate, like he’s terrified of losing you.
